Sunday School
Cheney UMC offers many ways for all ages to increase their understanding of scripture and the Christian life.
- Preschool Sunday School Class
The Preschool Sunday School class at CUMC is for 3 yrs to 5 yrs. Children learn Bible Stories, memory verses and songs to help reinforce the Bible stories. The children also do activities and movement games to go along with the Bible stories. They also have the opportunity for creative play and building friendships. The class meets at 10:45-11:45 each Sunday. - K-2nd Grade Sunday School Class
We learn stories from the bible and about the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, while building the foundation for a life long faith. - 3rd-5th Grade Sunday School Class
3rd-5th graders uses the David Cook material. They meet in the middle classroom in the balcony. - Middle School Sunday School
MS Sunday School includes grades 6, 7, and 8 strengthening their faith through a deeper understanding of our Lord and His teachings. MS Sunday School meets upstairs on the second floor in the north classroom from 10:45 to 11:45.
Active participation is encouraged. - High School Sunday School Class
We meet after fellowship time at 11:00 am upstairs in the balcony classroom labeled “High School”. We love to have Spirit led discussions about issues that affect the students’ lives. We are always open to honest questions that are on the students’ hearts. No question is ignored. You are welcome to express any doubts or struggles you are having with your faith, the church, or life in general. We strive to maintain an atmosphere where students feel safe to ask hard questions and share openly without being ostracized or condemned. Whether you’ve grown up in the church or it is your first time inside one, all are welcome. - Homebuilders Sunday School Class
We are a blended group of singles, married with young children, and married with older children. We engage in lively discussions ranging from marriage and raising children biblical topics and spiritual growth. Homebuilders II class meets in the parlor every Sunday after fellowship time — All are invited to join our fun loving group. - Fireside Sunday School Class
- Fellowship Sunday School Class
We learn in God’s word that “Fellowship” is a Heart issue, something to be felt and expressed and something very important to be a part of. God intends that we have fellowship with Him and with each other. We study God’s word, have lively discussions and help and support each other both personally and spiritually. We meet in the room across from the Pastor’s office. Please join us! - Joy Sunday School Class
Composed normally of 12 members ranging in age of upper 60’s into the nineties. We meet in the church library. We’re a Bible oriented class. We have a mission for praying for our church families and other needs. The members eat lunch together after Sunday School for fellowship. Contact Shelly Wise for more information.
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Good News Club
Good News Club is for students in grades 1-5 and we meet every Wednesday during the school year until 4:45. Pastor Doug and Sue will meet students after school by the swimming pool. There will be snacks, Bible lessons, activities, and more!!
If you know of children who don’t have a church home and might benefit from GNC, please let Pastor Doug or Sue Brown know – better yet, invite them yourself 🙂 We would be glad to give you information to share with them!
We can always use volunteers – please contact the church office if you could help us out – weekly, or occasionally – we will find something for you to do – and you will be helping to make a difference in the life of a child! Most of all – please keep the Good News Club in your prayers!!!
